What is sort of interesting, by comparing the two pictures, and this new discovery the CO2 geisers. create what appear to be, if one did not know better, impact craters. Maybe the crater holes on Mars are actually a combination of, from above and from below. It is also possible that some of the craters are more recent that previously expected, as the pics show at the south pole. Some craters on Mars may be expired vents, with the soil collapsed into the hole they once occupied.
