In priciple I'm opposed to the death penalty because it eliminates the possibility that a person might still contribute to society. While I'm not christian, what always comes to mind is John Newton. Filthy murdering slave trading vile man worthy of the death penalty. Then he changed his tune & in that course wrote one of the most stirring & inspiring hymns of all times,
Amazing Grace.
Life in prison at hard labor in place of death penalty.
That said, I wouldn't hesitate to kill someone myself in defense of my own or others lives.
