Gwen and I are hoping to travel somewhere, anywhere, this summer, but it sure doesn't look like Europe, Mexico, or even out-of-state.
Work has gotten fiendish busy! Basically, my company is one of a dozen or so putting together a demonstration flight of a new cargo rocket, the "K-1". My responsibilities right now include writing the training guide for new hires (not many yet, but the flood gates will soon swing open), management of the new Mission Control work-stations, and the manager of the hazard and risk databases. We are preparing now for Preliminary Design Review--a pony show to prove to NASA, our Prime Contractor, and our Investors, that we actually know what we're doing, and are worthy of further attention.
10 hour days. Man, am I ever pooped. But it is so much more fun than having nothing to do.
So, if Gwen and I manage to take off, it will be in August, and we won't be able to go very far. Lessee, as far as I can drive on 4 tanks of fuel, at an average of 25 gallons a fillup, and 10 mpg: 1,000 miles round trip & $300 for the gas.
Hmmm. Austin looks good. InfiniteNow? Any suggestions??
