WOW! The black-smoker that wasn't.
One of my geology professors dove in Alvin on the black smokers off the Oregon/Washington coast, and brought in home movies. One thing that puzzles me on that variety, is how do the tube worms and other crustaceans manage to make their shells in the acidic water?
