While taking an astronomy class, a fellow student raised her hand during the scientific explanation of the creation of stars and stated that what the teacher said was contrary to her religious belief. His reply, which came quick and unfaltering, was that she didn't have to believe the material, just learn it.
Public schools exist as an arm of government and as such should not respect any establishment of religion.
