In the physics-math tread, I started a discussion about potential, where potential can go up before it goes down, as long as the final affect lowers the overall potential. This appears to be such an affect. The sun is using a little potential up front with the hope of a final affect. Sort of like the solar siphon being primed, upfront, so the potential can go down hill.
