It sounds vaguely like Michael's making reference to the Hartle-Hawking wave function which replaces the idea of the singularity in classical general relativity (the point at which the physics breaks down) with a kind of quantum analogue to a singularity.
Read page 251-253. Is this what you're referring to, Michael? Are you saying you support Hawking's model? Or, are you talking about something else?
