The Ares I-X is the first test launch of the Ares I vehicle. It is to take place no earlier than August 30th, and will provide various data about the vehicle's flight, separation, etc during
this nominal flight path.
Here's a
picture of the aft portion of the vehicle, on it's way to be vertically integrated at the Vehicle Assembly Building.
