Of course you are correct in that the story of my son's bout with pitch was technically about relative pitch rather than perfect pitch, but then I tend to pay little attention to those who cannot sing or play (or do it without that ephemeral quality of "soul") who still feel the need to dominate music with rules and what is written. To me one of the special values of music and performance art is that it is ephemeral, and of the moment. One had to be there. Recordings, and even less, sheet music, are pale shadows of the experience. Vocabulary is far less important than having something meaningful to say. Love your music threads!
