I would think the first question to be answered is WHAT? That is, a scientist needs to determine WHAT is actually happening, before he moves on to mechanism (HOW?) or causes (WHY?).

Hypography?

Hypography [n.]: A combination of "hyperlink" and "bibliography" - ie, a list of links to electronic documents. Comparable to discography and bibliography, but not cartography.
