Speed of sound in various mediums.
4560 m/s at 20 C is the velocity of sound in vanadium (not dioxide.. could not find that info.)
Air at 20 °C 343.4 m/s
Thats about 10 times the speed of sound in air or the rate one would expect phase changes.
