Re: Poems Of Any Length
pictures taken down
paintings packed away
empty walls abound
echoes of yesterday
boxes packed and sealed
bags filled up with things
didn't know how i'd feel
when the silence rings
only house i knew
from the time i was a child
helping Grandma leave
didn't know it would be so wild
loading up the truck
saying our goodbyes
the place she's been so long
tears fall from my eyes
didn't know it would hurt
didn't think that i'd cry
didn't dream that i would hear
the silence in her eyes
for my Grams, who left her home of 33 years and started over in a whole new place.
What courage, Grams! You are my inspiration!!
