You've made a good speculation. Anyway, are you an analyst of religion or a religious person? As myself a buddhist, if you believe in Buddhism, don't try to speculate it. Anyone can say Buddhists are selfish, but i don't care. Liberation is for my own and no one but only i can take it. I posted about Buddhism in this theology forum when i was introduced it. After i've read Buddhism texts, i realised that it's no use to post about Buddhism here and understand how "ignorance' is very important for me. And the other thing is that i've learn what i should be. The more i know, the more i ignore liberation.
(If you're a good person, everyone'll know you. You don't need to say that you're. So please believe in what you have.)
