As long as the animals let you post pics, why not?

Re: Hypography Goes to the Zoo

some even let me take pics with them, others run away though... afraid of the camera noises...

It's a special zoo, you can see the entire evolutionary history of humans from ape-like mamals such as Australopithecus on Monday morning to homo sapien on a good week, by 5pm on Friday.

Re: Hypography Goes to the Zoo

Almost time now! We are making an animal list to check off as we move through the zoo. 120 is the goal. How many will Hypography have collectively?

Re: Hypography Goes to the Zoo

Great idea for a global outing. But my nearest zoo is 400km away in Cape Town and with the current oil price a bit expensive to visit for a day trip.

I will however try and get some photos of all the larger mammals and some birds, that I can see within say 20km radius of my home. (Watch this space)

That would be fantastic. Consider it "Global Fauna Appreciation Day" with an obvious bias toward available zoos. If you can get shots of wildlife, all the better.

Glad to have you participating!

Re: Hypography Goes to the Zoo

that's some serious zoom lens to take pics of birds in 20km radius, i mean i thought 2500 telephoto was big...

Yah Alex. We do have vehicles in Africa, you know.

Re: Hypography Goes to the Zoo

I understand that you guys consider camel or horse-powered wagons to be vehicles and all, but 20 km is like an hour and a half ride... better head out early, and grab water and oats for the horsey too, hope the pharaoh doesn't catch ya

that about all the stereotypes i could think of...

hey who knows, maybe you had a telescope and decided to use it in a creative, truly hypographic way

Camels? That might be further north, Egypt, Saudi and the like, and maybe Kazakstan.

I could have taken my friend's Piper Super Cruiser, but then the perspective will be wrong. Don,t think you would recognise an aerial shot of a rhino. You might think it's a fence anchor pole embedded in a rock.

Re: Hypography Goes to the Zoo

Naaw, i only get to fly in a Cessna 172, shots of animals from a plane arent anywhere near as cool as ones taken from the ground though. Besides, i could be talking about my friends 750bhp s13 (well one of the 3 he's got), but wild life gets really scared of it, and that's when it's not nearly bouncing off the rev limiter through a corner, and those shots would be quite blurry and hard to take when you are strapped in a bucket seat, sliding the rear of the car around a turn at 80mph, gotta love the welded rear diff (though he might not let me drive).
