Hypography has launched yet another site in our network. Wordseek.info is an advanced site where you can research words.

It can be used for standard dictionary lookups, or you can match words against a range of alternative sources like an antonym dictionary, law dictionary, the devil's dictionary, a thesaurus, and various others.

It can also be used to find new words from letter combinations. Just type in a few letters and it will list possible words which match. You can then look these words up in the dictionaries.

The url for the site is http://www.wordseek.info - but the site might eventually be drawn into the Hypography domain.

Easy linking for use in the forums
Note that at the Hypography science forums you can easily add direct links so that others can lookup words in your posts.

Use this code:

Code:
[dictionary]science[/dictionary]
which yields...

Re: Wordseek - new Hypography site

Careful...no space around the word, Turtle.

sweet works better.

You can also link directly to a dictionary if you know it's short name (list here: http://www.wordseek.info/copyright.php)

So, for example:

WordNet (wn)
http://www.wordseek.info/word/wn/turtle.html

Devil's Dictionary (devils)
http://www.wordseek.info/word/devils/heaven.html

CIA Factbook 2002 (world02):
http://www.wordseek.info/word/world02/Norway.html

Re: Wordseek - new Hypography site

Is there a way to add this to the reply page so we can look up words while making our reply without having to open another page?

Bill

I was thinking about you, Chacmool. Maybe we can create lists of cool words to feature as "Word of the week" etc and display it on the forum front page.

Excellent idea! It would be nice to learn an interesting word each week. Should I post my suggestion for new words here?

Great work T

I was surprised to see the definition of Jay-qu nah jk, im just playing around with the new feature..

would it be possible to make it like wiki, as in if a word is not in there a user can add it? obvioulsy it would have to go into a list until one of the staff checks it out and ok's it.
