We have corrected a minor glitch in the system clock that was showing the time one hour ahead of normal. For the next 60 minutes all posts made will be out of order as time catches up. Post order has returned to normal. We apologize for this inconvenience.

Because I've made a couple very poor decisions lately, I've decided to abandon my membership here at Hypography. Before I leave, I would like to say good bye to all those dear friends of mine that I will truly miss. Tormod: You've been the greatest, I wish you all the success my friend. Due to a mistake during our server move, all new posts made in the past 20 hours are dated one day too early (ie, August 19 instead of August 18). This is messing up a lot of threads in our forum but there is not much we can do about it. Eventually the correct time will pass the wrong post times and we will see topics added correctly again. I am sorry for this...operator mistake 101. :doh:

Hypography has launched yet another site in our network. Wordseek.info is an advanced site where you can research words. It can be used for standard dictionary lookups, or you can match words against a range of alternative sources like an antonym dictionary, law dictionary, the devil's dictionary, a thesaurus, and various others. It can also be used to find new words from letter combinations. Just type in a few letters and it will list possible words which match. You can then look these words up in the dictionaries. The url for the site is http://www.wordseek.info - but the site might eventually be drawn into the Hypography domain. Lately there have been a lot of threads and discussions about experimentation with drugs for obviously non-scientific reasons. The admins and moderators, and several concerned users, are taking steps to stop this trend. First of all, we will be adding a clause to our rules: "The explicit discussion of drugs in order to promote non-scientific experimentation of drugs, show people how to obtain or create drugs, or providing histories of drug use to show off, will lead to deletion of posts, and we will issue warnings." Repeated violations, or serious breaches of this rule, WILL lead to banning from our forums. We welcome drug related discussions as fits naturally when talking about medical treatments, scientific experiments, and effects and costs of drug abuse on society. Reporting good (or bad) news about the use of drugs in a medical experiment is not against our rules. However, such claims will require strong backup, in the form of links to sources and quotes from papers etc, in order to avoid deletion. We are sorry if this is seen as censorship. However, it is not the aim of Hypography to become a forum where people come to discuss drug use outside of a scientific realm. Hypography wants to support the fight against drug abuse. Many of our members are minors and as such we have a responsibility to educate them, not persuade them to try drugs. Whether some of our members experiment with drugs or not is not something we take a moral stand for or against. This is not a vendetta. However, we discourage posting while under the influence of drugs, particularly if the post is all about how the "trip" feels. Any questions and comments are welcome in this thread.

We have suffered a hacker attack and are working to recover from it. Some nice and friendly soul has compromised our server and messed up our web applications and database server. Peace be with his simple mind. His (or her) cleverness has, however, caused a lot of downtime since Saturday, and lots of work to isolate the issue. We have not solved it, but the forums are now open. If you find that you get blank pages or other strange behaviour, try to hit the back button in your browser and try something else. Some forums refuse to open, while others work fine. It is not clear why this happens. You might also get logged out all of a sudden. I am sorry for this situation but until we get this fixed things will be unstable.

A new part of the Hypography network was launched today: Hypography.net. The portal at hypography.com and the science forums are two of the building blocks of the Hypography network. The new search portal is an attempt to create a useful service while generating revenue. The search portal lets people search the web for websites, books, auctions, music, hardware, and e-books.
