Re: Sexting

I think the whole ruckus over sexting is just hyperbola due to people refusing to remember how they were as teens. As for child porn and sexting, what does a 14 year old girl have that a 18 year old doesn't? i know women who are 25 that can pass easily for 14 due to just being small slim and young looking. It seems to me the real problem is the possibility of a young girl being forced some how to take pictures. This i could get upset about but the fact that a post pubescent girl has taken nude pics of herself is not a big deal. I it will not ruin her chances for college or a job or anything else in life, just more hyperbola from adults who are uncomfortable with sex or nudity especially in teens where sex is already a big part of their waking life (and dream life too) sex education and making sure young girls know they have a right to demand satisfaction in relationships instead of just being the objects that do the satisfying would do far more to cut down on young girls being exploited by their boy friends than arresting them for sexting.

equivalent to treating under the law as an adult. This is legally a contradiction.

My wife's idea was that these kids if caught would be known by their peers as such and
would be forced to "wear" some item on their clothing identifying them as such while in
school. Their peers will teach these kids better than permanently branding them as sex
criminals.

For some this could backfire as some corrupted kids might like this "attention". For the
most part it might be positive if it could curb Sexting behavior.

Will making drinking illegal curb it? No, we tried that. Will making screaming illegal curb that? No. Will making having tantrums in public illegal curb it? No.

And would it be right to curb teen dating by making it illegal? No, of course not.

So if you take naked pictures of YOURSELF, it's illegal? Just like it's illegal to smoke and drink, you're only doing yourself harm. Oh, wait, it's not. Just like it's illegal to gamble, just because you're doing yourself harm. Victimless crimes are not truly victimless; most of the time they're self-inflicted harm, but you are hurting YOURSELF and that's it. Indirect pain should not be taken into account, because your world does not revolve solely on what others feel.

Government can't curb sexting by making it illegal, all they can do is tell kids that sexting is a bad idea. If you give them too much power, they'll enforce their 'sex is bad' idea. SEX IS GOOD.

I sympathize with you on this feeling and agree in principal. I think all it does is promote what is not desired.

If we had the capability of "turn-off" the "procreate ability" in teens ("minors") such that
"unwanted" pregnancies were eliminated. The danger is when kids can be exploited by
adults (however). I would fault the adults in any case and not the kids.

I would like to see research into Invitro Incubation (or the ability to grow a fetus outside of
a womb -- I coined the term similar to Invitro-Fertilization). Then unwanted pregnancies
would vanish. Then teens only have to worry about STDs.

Blaming the kids is like blaming the victims of a car accident for being there.
