equivalent to treating under the law as an adult. This is legally a contradiction.
My wife's idea was that these kids if caught would be known by their peers as such and
would be forced to "wear" some item on their clothing identifying them as such while in
school. Their peers will teach these kids better than permanently branding them as sex
criminals.
For some this could backfire as some corrupted kids might like this "attention". For the
most part it might be positive if it could curb Sexting behavior.

Will making drinking illegal curb it? No, we tried that. Will making screaming illegal curb that? No. Will making having tantrums in public illegal curb it? No.
And would it be right to curb teen dating by making it illegal? No, of course not.
So if you take naked pictures of YOURSELF, it's illegal? Just like it's illegal to smoke and drink, you're only doing yourself harm. Oh, wait, it's not. Just like it's illegal to gamble, just because you're doing yourself harm. Victimless crimes are not truly victimless; most of the time they're self-inflicted harm, but you are hurting YOURSELF and that's it. Indirect pain should not be taken into account, because your world does not revolve solely on what others feel.
Government can't curb sexting by making it illegal, all they can do is tell kids that sexting is a bad idea. If you give them too much power, they'll enforce their 'sex is bad' idea. SEX IS GOOD.
