Re: Physicist believes we will travel through time this century

i think first we have to understand what the 'time' actually is??
since all events in this universe occurs in an specific order i.e. one event is triggered by its previous events and will trigger some different event and so on.......
its just the previous events we say happened in PAST of our current PRESENT and will fruit into some FUTURE event.
as we know present event is combination of few past events and is a part of multiple future events.
i know it sounds confusing but it is what is happening.
we all are actually travelling into the future at the rate of 1second/second naturally without any time machine.
so what we need is to go in to the future is to some how travel at speed of 2seconds/second and you will end up in 1 second ahead into the future of now(current state).
similarly if somehow you travel at speed -1second/second (i don't know if it is valid???) then you will(were) end up in to your own past at 1 second lesser than your current state. Note: here current state means the moment you attempt such travel.

Because,
PAST-PRESENT-FUTURE
was-is-will
gone-here-reach.

we all have a definite PAST-only SINGLE PRESENT-multiple FUTURES.......

Re: Physicist believes we will travel through time this century

So . . . at the time you depart the present, the universe is diminished by the mass you constitute? If you travel back one second, then for that second, the universe is increased by the mass you have added to it? There are then two of you, for that second?

If that is not the case, then what is it that travels into the past? Your soul? If it is the case, then given enough time and effort (or let's just say effort; time is apparently not a problem), you could populate the world all by yourself, with geometrically increasing herds of yourself which you could then theoretically take back to some time in the past and, in this theoretical world, assassinate Hitler while he is still an artist in Vienna, or even mount an army of yourselves to defeat him in World War II, when the world understands the danger he poses.

Who knows, maybe a gang of yous (linguistic details to be worked out in the theoretical past) could throttle Lavoisier before he had a chance to develop the theory that makes your theoretical time travel a little more difficult.

Just a theory.
