| Re: NASA Announces Spectacular Day of the Comet Maybe Deep impact will tell us how our solar system formed. This is important work and should clear up a few details because there is some disagreement amoung theorists about how these events took place. It was reassuring to read that there will be no disturbing of the comet's flight path, this puts to rest a fearful thought I had before reading the article. Hopefully this reassurence is accurate. |

| Re: NASA Announces Spectacular Day of the Comet http://www.thunderbolts.info/tpod/20...eyborrelly.htm I expect the NASA and JPL scientists are going to be even more surprised than they could possibly have imagined..especially if they are still laboring under the assumption that comets are dirty ice balls.... | Re: NASA Announces Spectacular Day of the Comet Quote:
I think it will either hit and go splat, as it hits a solid rock surface, or it will just sink in fairly slowly, and not cause any fireworks at all. If the "weak gravity holds the loose mass together" idea is true, the probe would probably go right thought it, like the proverbial hot knife through butter. It would also be likely to blow the whole thing to pieces. | |
