| Re: Mars Express uncovers possible sites for life Pretty neat article. Sounds kind of bummer that there may never have been water, or it disappeared and seepd into the rocks... Mars having 3 geological eras was good to learn. But now they know where to drill and sample if we ever get there~! ![]() |

| Re: Mars Express uncovers possible sites for life Actually, there is no doubt that water has existed on Mars (it still does, as has been proven by Mars Express before). It is the surface (liquid) water that has disappeared. It is still present as ice on the surface and in the ground, for example at the north pole. Using Mars Express they are also looking deep into the ground to look for possible underground lakes - I assume they have found none so far since this article comments on related research. The instrument is different, however - this article is about the OMEGA instrument, whereas the MARSIS instrument is a ground radar. |
