I've run into a lot of them there beasties in them woods, and the biggest thing I've see was a 10 foot Eastern diamondback rattlesnake, although Wikipedia says "Specimens over 7 feet (213 cm) are rare" but I get to go pretty nasty places. here is a pic of a nine footer.

and here is a Culvert Full of Snakes.

[IMG][/img]
Come on dude, that snake isn't even close to nine feet, it is being help close the camera to make it look bigger. Trick of perspective. Soo too with the gator, The culvert was stuffed with snakes for the photo.

OK I'll take one photo at a time although you didn't say anything about Hogzilla.
Quote:
scientists confirmed that Hogzilla actually weighed 800 pounds (360 kg) and was between 7.5 and 8 feet (2.25 and 2.4 meters) long, diminishing the previous claim. DNA testing was performed, revealing that Hogzilla was a hybrid of wild boar and domestic swine (Hampshire breed).
Hogzilla - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I only said it was a monster but it looks every bit as big as the one in this link.

It took trappers about two hours to capture the 13 foot, 2 inch gator that weighed more than one thousand pounds.
Firstcoastnews.com | Jacksonville, St. Augustine and Brunswick | 13-Foot Gator Caught In West Palm Beach

Per "Wikipedia" Human height, White Americans, 20–39 = 164.1 cm (5' 4.6") ground to eye 5', eye to knee 4', +- 9' now straiten out the snake and I can see 9'.
Human height - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

as far as the snakes I don't know how that got there I just thought it was strange.

Re: Strange animal pics

I can't view the videos but I've always felt the oar fish could be responsible to most sea serpent sightings. the resemblance to descriptions of sea serpents and the oar fish match quite closely.

If you compare the height of the people in the gator photo you will notice the gator appears to be almost 18 feet long. I've seen ten to twelve foot gators and while they are impressive this one appears to be much bigger than any real gator would be. Or the people in the photo are pygmies. The humans are no doubt much further from the camera than the gator. It's perspective, I've seen all of these photos on the web years ago and all were shown to be distorted through perspective except the snakes in the culvert and they were put there for effect. I'm not familiar with the hog photo but it is a very big hog.

Lightbulb Re: Strange animal pics

just to clear the air we are in agreement on the sizes of the Animals in the pics I posted, although the gator looks to be a big one there is noway IMHO that it could as big as it appears, and I was wrong to state that the snake was a 9 footer when I have no proof of such.
I shall go and edit the snake now.

always your humble servant Doug.

I would estimate that snake to be around six feet long, big no doubt but not freakishly big. Around here a six foot diamond back is not unheard of. I know a guy who has a skin that is humongous, more than 10 feet long but snake skins can be stretched and when pressed he will admit it was about seven and a half feet before he stretched it (maybe still a little bit of an exaggeration). A six foot diamond back would be a dangerous adversary if you stumbled on it, pissed it off, and couldn't retreat very fast. Fortunately diamond backs are not really aggressive try to avoid humans and many bites are dry bites. It is rare to encounter a diamond back in the wild unless you are actively looking for them, they tend to hide and will crawl away when they detect you coming and they do know you are coming way before you would see them. The snake has conscious control of whether or not it injects venom and they will often not inject or inject a small amount when biting something they know they cannot eat. If you enrage the snake it can give you several full bites in quick secession and you had better be near a hospital. One that big could bite you high on your body with devastating results. Cotton Mouth Moccasins are the ones I worry about, I was walking in the swamp one spring night to check a fish trap and I heard something hit the bucket I was carrying two or three times I moved aside and found a four foot cotton mouth beside the path trying to bite my bucket! I had a cotton mouth come out of the water and chase me and my two sons one evening when we were seining a small stream near our house. I had to use a large dipnet to keep him away while we packed up our stuff!
