Is Atlantis Under Greenland Ice Shelf? Just throwing the idea out there.

I propose that Atlantis is under the Greenland Ice Shelf.

Could anyone find evidence to agree with the proposal, or give reason that the concept is indisputably wrong?

I thought that was a given Seriously, the Greenland ice shield is millions of years old, Wasn't Atlantis just a few thousand years ago?

Well, according to quantum theory, anything is possible, therefore we must consider the possibility that all those layers of well ordered carbon-14 data that come out of the Greenland ice cores that have been cataloged by the thousands that are all completely consistent, *could* have been caused by a Great Flood of a period of 40 days followed by a Great Freeze that created the Ice Shelf by just happened to order all of the molecules with *perfectly* ordered layers.

Obviously since the probability of this not happening is only , then we *must* consider it at least possible that the proposition in the Original Post is True.

Science has this tendency to be based on at least some form of evidence, can you please present what it is you are basing your proposal on? Once you make an effort to support your claim, we will have something to work with, to either support your claims, or dismiss them as not plausible and tell you why.

(don't take this in a wrong way, i'm really interested what you base this on, i may be your biggest supporter, who knows)

i say that i may be a supporter based on a rather strange idea i have about an advanced pre-egyptian civilization, and traces of it in egyptian monuments (not many, and certainly not talking about pyramids)

There are also those traces of sunken cities off the coast of India, Japan and Southeast Asia. They would have been above the surface during the last ice age. Maybe there was a world wide civilization based on coastal areas that was submerged when the ice cap suddenly let go about 35,000 years ago.

I have thought of that, problem is it seems that there is too much of a gap in time, between their disappearance and emergence of recorded large civilization in Egypt...

On 1 July 1993 the Greenland Ice Sheet Project Two (GISP2) successfully completed drilling through the base of the Greenland Ice Sheet and another 1.55 m into bedrock at a site in the Summit region of central Greenland (72.6N; 38.5W; 3200 masl) [ Mayewski et al., 1994a]. In so doing, GISP2 recovered the deepest ice core record in the world (3053.44 meters). GISP2 and its European companion project, GRIP (the Greenland Ice Core Project, which one year earlier penetrated the ice sheet to a depth of 3028.8 m, 30 km to the east of GISP2), have now developed the longest ice-core-derived paleoenvironmental record, >110,000 years, available from the Northern Hemisphere.

Hmm... Okay. I saw a quote to that effect. I saw that 110,000 years ago was well into humanity's life on the planet. I missed that the Greenland ice shelf, according to wikipedia, has been rebuilding itself since the Pliocene, i.e., over 1.8 million years ago, due to continental drift having placed it near the polar regions for a *long* time.

Given the large amount of oddball theories concerning the location of Atlantis, I was wondering why, given the size, location and the fact that the ground is buried under a gigantic ice sheet, none of the oddball theories I've ever seen have Greenland as a possible location.

No I didn't see that thread, I'll look it up, actually it was closer to 10,000 to 15,000 years ago. I exaggerated so i could make s stupid claim about it being traces of a Neanderthal civilization. I was in the mood for a little silliness.

In the biography of Charles Lindberg he is said to have flown over the north
pole. Charles reported that he flew out of some clouds and saw what he
said to be a place that reminded him of the Garden of Eden. He reported
that he seemed to have flown into a vegetation that had never been seen
before. He reported that it was beautiful, like nothing he had ever seen.

According to Lindbergs reports there is apparently some hidden place up north that has never been inhabited. I don't know if any scientific team
has ever explored this area or not. It seems that it could be seen by our
satallites and that our government would know about this hidden place but
I have never seen anything about this hidden place reported by Lindberg since his report.

If you know about this and know more, I would like to know what else has
been discovered about this hidden vegetation up north.

Could what Lindberg saw and reported have been Atlantis up north?
