Biological process of Need/Desire

Hi.

I am a student of what I term higher awarenss. I have some questions

What biologically in the body creates need and desire?

What is the biological effect on the body of need and desire?

What is the biology behind understanding?

The chemicals most notoriously associated with need and desire seem to relate to hormones and neurochemistry.

That's an open ended question. What body? What need? What desire?

In my humble opinion, the biology behind understanding is philosophy/psychology. The wizard is behind the curtain...quick!
