Maintaining Hypography
Keeping Hypography running is a mastodontic job. I have long since lost track of how many hours I have spent installing things, upgrading, fixing things which are broken by upgrades, finding hacks, helping people and so on.
It takes a lot of time.
In fact, we're in Hypography's 8th year now - if I add up all the hours spent I think I would go crazy.
So why do I do it?
Because I love this place. I love seeing new posts from people who walk into our forums and start posting. I love reading funky theories which are completely out of whack with "real" science. I also love it when crackpots are told where the closet stands.
I love trying out new ideas - from advertisements to blogs to galleries to color schemes. Those who have been around for a while know that we change the look now and then. The current design took me about 6 months to create and three months to implement...that's what it takes when you work full time and have kids (and a wife
).
But more than anything I love the hardcore Hypographers who keep posting their stuff here. From Turtle's endless mathemagical doodles to Buffy's fluffy movie quotes. CraigD's fantastic explanations. Alexander's geek guides. Boerseun's moos. C1ay's news and insightful posts. TheBlackAlchemist's writings on everything from ESP to, well, alchemy. Sanctus' pics of diabolo (that was a new word for me).
I should name you all. But you know who you are. I love you all. Keep it up!
