nothing fuels a paranoid coffee leavened mania like good ol' fashioned black choppers over ya.

At least, that's the word from Portland police, who want the public to know that the black helicopters that began buzzing downtown at 7 this evening are part of a U.S. Department of Defense training exercise.

One by one, several choppers ferrying apparently armed crews swooped over Southwest Broadway, landed briefly on a high-rise roof and then resumed their flight.

Flights continued long into the night and extended over Southeast and Northwest Portland as well. Officials declined to say what time the exercise would end.

Media outlets received little notice of the exercise, which began within 20 minutes of an alert from the Police Bureau.

OK The real story is that the 'media notice' came by way of some alert citizen on the street getting these things on camera as they hopped from skyscraper to skyscraper with guys hanging on the sides in camo and all strapped. Then when the media asked the boys in blue & green , oh yeah, that's nothing to see here folks.

Good grief & oh bother.
