Enzyme power

I have observed how enzymes are super natural catalysts, things which help nature do whatever reaction it needs to do.

I was thinking: why can't we look into the working of enzymes and attempt to fabricate our own enzymes, right from DNA structuring.

Then we can use the enzymes as we want, metal ore reduction, highly efficient and ultra specific chemical producers..... the possibilities are endless.

Has any work been done on this? Because I have never come across a mention.

Anyway, I can't see how this has not been worked upon, it's such a viable possibility.

That's funny. How come it did'nt appear for me with the results?

Re: Enzyme power

In any case, I've just seen how hydrogen has been prepared using enzymes.
How far can we extend the concept?

And what other methods are there for synthetic enzyme production?

Can we prepare Iron from it's ore?
Can we separate U235 from its natural mixture?
Can we prepare enzymes as fast as Carboxylase for our needs?
Can we attempt to replace the naturally found enzymes with our own?

Re: Enzyme power

Enzymes lower activation energies and thus alter reaction channel kinetics. Violation of thermodynamics with kinetics is limited to metastable states. Enzyme engineering is big business and old hat,

Re: Enzyme power

I notice that enzyme synthesis is indeed a big business.

However, what I specifically had in mind was manipulation using DNA coding.

Re: Enzyme power

I know that enzymes are used for all sorts of enzymatic synthesis... but I am not sure exactly how we can fabricate enzymes...
I think that needs to be left to natural organisms and their biological processes...
Interesting topic. I would like to find out more.

Re: Enzyme power

seems like we can create everything. elements, enzymes.since we can produce our own protein structure how about producing our own tissues and then organs that has never been thought of before, inspired by animals? ok this is weird.
just a thought
