RE: New group: Chemistry

Hm...wouldn't that be physics? Chemistry deals with the elements, not the subatomic particles, AFAIK. Maybe I'm wrong?

New group: Chemistry

Oh, at school, I remember the subatomic particles stuff was under the chemistry section.

Of course there are quarks here. Otherwise we wouldn't have a place to put the thread! :-)

But I think Quarks would fit better in Physics. IT would seem that Chemistry would deal more on a molecular level.

So perhaps to start, I understand that Chemistry is the legitmate child of Alchemy.

Indeed! IT was basically the search for the mythic Philosopher's Stone, which would turn lead into gold. Isaac Newton spent a lot of his time pursuing this.

RE: New group: Chemistry

yes! quarks and such should go under chemistry!
look! pions atoms! being called "Pionium"

http://physicsweb.org/articles/news/8/10/2/1
well, although pioniums have been discovered b4, but this time scientists made a large amount of it...

wow!!!
pions atoms reactions (coming soon...)!! muhahahah!

{pionium oxide+ sodium --> sodium peroxide + pionium}!!! wot!

Hm. Why is that chemistry and not physics? Just asking!

RE: New group: Chemistry

It is my opinion that subatomic particles be discussed in the physics category. This just makes sense.

RE: New group: Chemistry

in my opinion sub-molocular particles all belong to physics;
Chemestry realy deals with the macro-world; redox-reactions; plastics, biochemestry all that stuff.
