ok, guys in the previous thread i ask does iso, sec, and tert count in alphabete when naming compound and some of you said yes!
um.. like i said, my teacher is saying that you do count them in and so does the Dean of the Chem department. BUT book defines iso____ as hitoric name so the book counts that into the alphabet but does not alphabatize sec or tert.
for example (book): 3-
isopropyl-2-
methylnonane AND
1-t-
butyl-2,3-di
methylhexane
example (teacher): 2,3-di
methyl-1-
t-butylhexane
professor wants his way for exam but i am worried about ACS exam at the end of semester so please help me out!
