Favorite Chess Openings?

This is for those of you who are more competitive at this game....

What is your favorite chess opening(s)?

Here is a list of mine:

1. Kings Indian Defense (KID): 1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 g6 3. Nc3 Bg7 4. e4 e6

2. Sicilian Defense; Classical Variation: 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 d6

3. Smith Morra Gambit is quite fun (A sideline of the Sicilian Def): 2.d4 cxd4 3.c3

4. St. George Defense. A very bad opening, but you can pull surprises with it against beginners: 1...a6

Re: Favorite Chess Openings?

I have a gambit, of my own invention, that I was reasonably successful with, when playing competitive chess.
1.b4 Nf6 2.Bb2 e6 3.e3 Bb4 4.g4, here are the continuations from a couple of recent internet games:
a) 4.... Nc6 5.g5 Ne4 6.Bd3 Nc5 7.Bg7 Rg8 8.Bf6 Nd3 9.d3 Be7 10.Be7 Qe7 11.h4 etc, black won
b) 4.... h6 5.h4 c5 6.Rh3 Rg8 7.g5 Nd5 8.Qh5 Qb6 9.Bg7 Rg7 10.h6 Rg8 11.h7 Rh8 12.Rf3 etc, white won.

Re: Favorite Chess Openings?

I used to love playing king's indian, but it gets hard against lines where white lodges a knight into your king side. So as black, I'm sticking almost exclusively to sveshnikov line of the sicilian against e4 and queen's gambit accepted against d4. For a lame 1800-2000 ELO player like me, the sveshnikov is pretty easy to play if white goes into any deviation from the mainline and the the queen's gambit accepted often leads to a nice dynamic hedgehog defense if your opponent isn't an opening know it all. As white, I go e4 as a matter of style (positional chess? what's that?). I will try to stay in the mainlines (or as much as I can remember) for the sicilians. I know winawer is better against the french, but I've always been too lazy to learn it, so I usually go with the evil I know with the tarasch, which tends to be a positional line (and I have lost more matches online than I can count because of this choice).

Oh yeah. Mainline ruy lopez for symmetric e5. For caro-kan't e4 c6 d4 d5, I go with the aggressive e5 and hope my opponent is a tactical idiot.
