One of the canonical ways to do this, commonly used in email games, is to forward the entire move list, in full algebraic, that is with from and to squares listed. So instead of
1. e4 you say 1. e2-e4. The point of this is if a mistake is made, a position can easily be backed up. It is accompanied by a current diagram, usually called an "Ugly ASCII Diagram" or "UAD" on chessvariants.org. However, for the board to look right a monospaced font must be available, and it appears this forum has none.
