Yeah! Silly how they count the medal stats in order of golds, silver, and bronze...so that 1 gold is listed higher than any amount of silver and bronze medals. I guess winner takes it all...

Things haven't gone quite as expected this weekend but 5 medals in two days...

While I'm rooting for the U.S., Germany usually makes it to the top three consistently in the Winter Olympics.

Re: Who wins Most Medals at Olympics?

I really wouldn't mind seeing Italy come in second though. Or even first, if it came down to Italy and some other country (except the US, I gotta root for the home team ).

I was totally blown away by the Opening Ceremony the other night. Gret and I stayed up and watched it together, and it was very incredible. Any country that a) lets a woman be the one to light the flame, and b) gets Luciano Pavarotti to do the finale - is A-OK in my book.

First rate night.

could've done without Yoko though.

Re: Who wins Most Medals at Olympics?

dudes, have you seen that finish of men 40km pursuit? it was the craziest one i've seen yet, that dude from Norway, who crashed on the start line, he came back very well into second from last, and then #13 was pretty crazy too, he was 10nth one lap before finish and killed the 2 italians going in first and second on the final straight away, and so did that norwegian guy, he did real good, but wasnt quite there to get the gold....
p.s. as i have predicted, so far us got gold and silver in the halfpipe event, also US women's hockey is doing well, opening up the olimpics with a 5:0 over Germany, as well as the Canadian team doing a 12:zip over Russia.... i would guess, it will be US and Canada in the finals...

Re: Who wins Most Medals at Olympics?

oh, i should also mention norway's silver and bronze in the men's 20k individual biathlon, as well as germany's gold, frances gold in men's donhill, russia's bronze in the wome's 15k pursuit, canadian gold and norway's silver in the women's freestyle skiing event, italian gold and russian silver in men's louge, it was sad to see south korea take first and second in the 1500 short track, canada took bronze in women's 3000m speedskate... (dont get upset if i didnt call your country's gold silver or bronze, i am just looking at the main contenders for most medals here (except for france )

Re: Who wins Most Medals at Olympics?

no, denmark is a country located north of germany, south west of sweeden and south of norway, it is still a constitutional monarchy, it is located on a peninsula just north of germany, it is located across the north sea from norway, therefore it would be hard to even consider it a part of norway, you'd be better off guessing that its a part of germany....

netherlands also borders north sea, germany and belgium, also happens to be a constitutional monarchy, and once again you would be better off guessing that it is a part of germany, but yet again, it was hardly ever that, it was a part of the roman empire, never was a part of prussia, so therefore the only time it was controlled by germans was WWI and WWII, kinda similar case with denmark, so....
