Why don't you consider fishing to be hunting Jay-qu?

Well nows! Good point on the fish. Technically we must include it as hunting given the poll choices. As you have demonstrated, we can debate the finer points here in the thread.
I have fished & eaten my catch, I have hunted deer & taken none, & I have shot & eaten a rabbit.

Just a little Jeffrey Dommer-esque humor there...

Re: Hunt, kill, eat?

I dont consider fishing hunting because hunting normally requires stalking and actually choosing your prey, while fishing you dont do that, you trick the fish and the fish chooses you not the other way round

In this case though, I guess spear fishing could be considered hunting, and I have done that - but not eaten any of them.

OK So noted; however for the purpose of the poll you are required by law to consider any means of fishing as "hunting". I 'tricked' that rabbit I shot by holding still & quiet so it thought everything was oky-doky.
I forgot to mention all the frogs I have hunted, killed, & eaten the legs of by hook or by crook.

PS In my state of Washington in the USA, frogs are the only animal it is legal to kill (harvest? take?) with either a hunting or fishing license.

Re: Hunt, kill, eat?

Well I have fished and eaten it, however I answered "no, but I plan to".

However, I have always wanted to hunt without a gun sometime to make it more fair for both parties and a bit more adventuresome. Perhaps with a large knife or a bow and arrow.
