Do you Game?

This is the first in a series of polls.

I don't mean to be intrusive, but I realize that the people of Hypography are more or less my intended audiance for the edutainment productions that I wish to do. As such I would like to know some basic things about the average Hypographer.

First of which is, do you play games? If so when, for how long, and why?

Next in the series is for people who play games, what is your favorite form of game?

I've been playing the Hypography forum/message board game for about a year now. and I sometimes invest a considerable amount of time and mental energy.

Gaming is a rich man's hobby these days. Things usually turn out that way soon after they get popular.

Re: Do you Game?

I game.
I think everyone games. Some play mind games, some rpg gaming, some computer gaming, political games, social games, etc.
The term 'gaming' on its own is, imo, to broad and vague to gather useful information.

Re: Do you Game?

Games are my life, particularly PC games, but any type will do.

I assume you're talking about video games (because most other types of games are cheap). I don't pay more than $20 for any game (I tend to pay less than $10) and I don't pay more than $100 for a system (I've only ever bought one system, an NES, and that was for $20, but I'd be willing to pay more if I wanted to). I did pay a bit for my PC, but I don't consider it a gaming console, it's useful for many other reasons too.

Re: Do you Game?

I have gamed, so I am no virgin.
But the experience, though enjoyed, has been rare.
I did D&D, old style, three times. Loved it. My cube-mate at work was one of the players and had invited me. When he quit and moved to El Paso, I never played it again.
I went to a comic book/gaming store on four occassions and played 1-on-1 with the owner's son, who was admittedly a gaming addict. It was worlds of fun. I never went back, and really don't miss it.
I played a video D&D called "Fate" and that was as close to actual addiction that I ever got. I played 4 hours a day and my wife complained. After four months, I took the game off my PC.
I am still on the wagon, so to speak.

Re: Do you Game?

I am a d&d addict. A friend got me started about 7 years ago. We play once every couple weeks with a pretty dedicated group (and our kids). This last year we switched to the Star Wars roleplaying equivalent ...freaking awesome.
