With only three participants I don't think anyone is holding their breath, though. ![]() ---------------- Your Friendly Neighborhood AdministratorWant to sponsor Hypography? | Resident USSRian | Re: Avatar contest follow-up Interesting question Aki! Tormod, I dont know about an essay contest, I dont think many people would like to write an essay during their free time, photography, interesting, but what about people who dont have cameras, website, even more interesting, but there is always a few sites that stand out. I was thinking about a coding contest, but then again many people here dont code, best scientiffic fact contest, but then its very opinion based judging... Maybe a best signature contest, because everyone can participate, best google search contest (there could be categories here too, most random, weirdest results and so forth), most random thing you can find on ebay, the best book contest, again with categories... i dunno, but i think ive given you a bit to think about. ---------------- And remember that great question that Pierre-Simon Laplace and Sir Isaac Newton, Andrei Markov and David Hilbert, Richard Feynman and Enrico Fermi, Albert Einstein and Edmund Halley did not come to ask throughout all of their dedication and work: "Who the hell is IMing me?" Other ideas: best quote contest, best topic rating contest (ie the topic that gets the best rating in a certain period wins), best joke, best "real science experience" contest... ---------------- Your Friendly Neighborhood AdministratorWant to sponsor Hypography? | Resident USSRian | Re: Avatar contest follow-up Hey, that sounds very interesting too, but thats almost like the last one, meybe we could save that one for the next one...(some topics here, much like with avatars: Tech, Abstract, Scientiffic, Microsoft ridiculing, Anime, Pictures, and the rest) How to hold the best google search contest? You could split it into categories like the most random search, totally unexpected results, search with the most answers and so forth, and then have people post what they were searching for, why and a link... ---------------- And remember that great question that Pierre-Simon Laplace and Sir Isaac Newton, Andrei Markov and David Hilbert, Richard Feynman and Enrico Fermi, Albert Einstein and Edmund Halley did not come to ask throughout all of their dedication and work: "Who the hell is IMing me?" As for backgrounds, I figured only ONE topic would do: use the Hypography logo (the inverted H) in any way you want...mangle it, twist it, model it in 3D, use effects on it, well...anything possible, really. ![]() ---------------- Your Friendly Neighborhood AdministratorWant to sponsor Hypography? | Resident USSRian | Re: Avatar contest follow-up Yeah, but then it doesnt make it a background contest, more of an art contest, how creative can you be with a hypography H, type of deal... I'm glad you like the Google idea, would you like to discuss it here or the "Secret" section with the rest of mods or over PM or email? ---------------- And remember that great question that Pierre-Simon Laplace and Sir Isaac Newton, Andrei Markov and David Hilbert, Richard Feynman and Enrico Fermi, Albert Einstein and Edmund Halley did not come to ask throughout all of their dedication and work: "Who the hell is IMing me?" New Scientist often features "one-off" searches in their fun stuff-column. Those are searches which give only one result. That could be one category. Then there are misspellings, perhaps. ---------------- Your Friendly Neighborhood AdministratorWant to sponsor Hypography?
