Firefox Plugins

This thread is dedicated to all the cool plugins that you can get for firefox

I recently found one that gives you extra smilies its called Smiley Xtra 4

just a few previews:

The more useful plugins I use are:
-Adblock plus, blocks ads
-Flashblock, replaces flash objects with a button to view it
-NoScript, stops javascript running unless you allow
-Gmail manager, notifies you when you recieve new mail via gmail
-Stumble Upon, randomly opens a webpage to do with topics of your choice

so what do you use?

BBCode is my favorite! It lets you use forum codes by right-clicking in the post form.

Re: Firefox Plugins

you need to run Adblock Ubdater.d updates your adblock library with a server, and so far i have not seen one ad.
also QuickJava is a better plugin then noscript, bercause it alows you to block Java apps as well as JS (and java apps start at a whopping 300megs of ram, so unless you alow it to, those wont run, and JS, if disabled does not run either
i also run the DrWeb link scanner plugin, that scans links for viruses without downloading them to your system
down them all is an excellent plugin
web developer toolbar is excellent
i also run a plugin that aloows me to translate en to rus, rus to en, type in english but make it sound like russian and it switches it to cyrilic, also i can type in cyliric, but its oriented towards people who type in english a lot, it does not switch to russian layout (and its sweet)
bout it, i used to run faster fox, but since i figured out what it actually does, i have uninstalled it and turned on a few options to speed up FF

in about:config
Quote:
browser.blink_allowed to false - i hate blinking elements on a website, so this is an annoyance
browser.tabs.showSingleWindowModePrefs to true - this allows you to go into edit/preferences and have extra tab options, like open links in new tabs
nglayout.initialpaint.delay to 0 - so the page gets rendered as i am getting it not afterwards
network.http.pipelining to true
network.http.proxy.pipelining to true
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests to 8 - to enable pipelining

Re: Firefox Plugins

Hyperwords is cool.
When you highlight a word or phrase, a menu tab(like when you right-click) opens with options to search several reference sources, including but not limited to wikipedia, google definition, google search, and imdb.com .

I also use the translator addon. It adds a 'translator' option to the menu-tab thing, which can translate English both to and from various languages. The translations aren't perfect, but I have found it particularly useful on a few occasions.

Re: Firefox Plugins

I have a few I like to use a lot and small group of "must haves".

MustHave Group
AIOS
<-- All-in-One Sidebar
Adblock Plus
Bookmark Duplicate Detector
Colerful Tabs
CustomizeGoogle
Download Statusbar
FEBE
Flagfox
Foxmarks Bookmark Synchronizer
IE Tab (PC Only)
Menu Editor
MR Tech Toolkit
OPIE
Organize Status Bar
PDF Download
Tab Mix Plus
Update Notifier

(note: those highlighted in blue are of Critical Need!!!)

Like / Useful Group
404:File is Not Found ? Now it will be
BBCode
Brief
CLEO
Ctrl-Tab
CuteMenus2
Forecastbar Enhanced
FoxClocks
Mid
Organize Search Engines
QuickJava
Zotero

Though I admit at work I am running about 68 so far.
I expect a lot of these will become part a future install of Firefox.

Best all around favorite is hard to choose from; after much deliberation,
I would give that award to AIOS for just being so slick it just becomes
part of the GUI ! I would like it to have custimization working on the
sidebar though for the Mac. Oh well.
