Gmail on Outlook

How can I connect my Gmail account to be accessed from Outlook on my laptop?

I've done everything I should, but I have sneaking suspicion that in setting up the Outlook mailbox, the URL for the http server would be something else than www.gmail.com...

Any ideas?

I'm running Outlook 2003, btw.

We have to, for this bloody stupid app we're using. And I thought I had it licked, by Gmail's help, but with somehow it still won't connect and do what it should...

Is it broke both ways, sending and receiving? Did you enable POP in your GMail settings? What port numbers did you set for SMTP and POP3? Did you check the box for SSL to use an encrypted connection?

you have to enable POP access on your account, then run yourself through the tutorial here and it will help you configure all the settings so it works

Yeah - got the ports at 995 and 465, as the manual said I should.

When I test the account settings, I get different results each time. Sometimes it can send a test email, then the very next time I try it, it can't - like a time-out. And I have set the time-outs to 10 minutes, so it shouldn't be that. Somewhere, there's a bloody ghost in this here machine...

It is. I quit using POP on GMail because of the timeouts.....
