Things i would die without on a Mac!

So I've had my mac for 24 hours, and i have to say that there are a few things that i can not imagine running OS X without:

Quicksilver - quick application start service
Virtue - desktop manager
Adium - IM
Firefox - Browser
OpenOffice - office suit
Terminal - transparent terminal session with a pretty background and shiny fonts is essential to using it correctly for any extended period of time

oh and most of all, an external mouse, touchpad is cool, but one button just does not cut it... however i love the way you scroll...

Re: Things i would die without on a Mac!

I detest OpenOffice for a simple reason. It has an extra menu bar.

I've not used Adium to any great length.

I have a few "can't live without it" apps on the Mac - one is iCal. That program is awesome once you figure out how to leverage it.

Quicksilver you mentioned. Virtue is good.

I used to use a program called CRM4Mac pretty heavily. I'm in the market for a good PIM solution if you know one.

No, not really....

TFS

Oh, never mind, gems is a program.. I was thinking you were saying OSX wasn't user friendly, and I was kinda bewildered.

Re: Things i would die without on a Mac!

in no particular order:

QT Pro - has saved me many times when i needed to dl videos and split sounds out of them, etc..
Traktor DJ Studio - use it for mixing a lot of stuff, i have an m-audio controller and a 4 channel usb audio card so i can do cue and stuff
Audacity - excellent, simply said-so
DJay (too bad it does not support mixer controllers)
kismac - well you should do your own research
google earth - use it for wardriving, and other fun stuff
mac gps pro - what's wardriving with gps, if you can't find directions?
gpsdx - link gps dongle to kismac
Photoshop (CS2 or 3)
iPhoto (with the flickr plugin for quick tune and post to flickr thing)
Apperture - raw, anyone?
Disco - for burning, oh sooo good
VLC - plays everything hands down best player for all platforms
Unarchive - better then the stock archive program
Mail - i use it with imap for my email needs, does well, thunderbird works well too though
VMware - luvz it for my quick linux app needs in os x
REFIT - makes for some efi magic if you dual boot
WaterRoof - i makez my own fw rulez
Vidalia Bundle - for the times when tracking may not be a good thing...
Hydrogen - for drum machine needs

can't stress the power of the terminal, and unix applications, SSH, and such...

GPG - 4096 bit key + 1024bit signature + stuff that you don't want others reading = fuuun

For FF plugins, i use foxy proxy, stylish (many a themes in there, lots that i have written, though some adblock global themes are really good, and block even more kinds of adds then adblock the extension does), web developer, quick java, dictionaries, stealther, AD block and html validator.

Gotta look at design pro tools... always looking for cool music soft

Oh forgot the most important app, Defcon, soo much fuun, soo much addiction
