Okay, we already determined in another thread that the iPod hardware is superior to all others. Not gonna talk about hardware here:
I'm a luddite: I like my CDs. However most of the music download services now let you burn to CDs too for your $0.99. What is your favorite service and why? eWeek's ExtremeTech site has a nice review and comparison chart, but it was done in April and its already out of date.

I use iTunes and then I run my tracks through Jhymn so I can use them on my iRiver H10.

its legal if the music is under the Share Alike license from creativecommons.com

I'm a poor college student, and even though $.99 is cheap, and reasonable for a song, I have about 1,000 songs that I've downloaded, which isn't really a lot, and I don't think that I would be able to really afford paying for music if I tried. It would be something that I wouldn't notice eating up my money, until I realized that I'd paid a few hundred (or thousand) dollars for it over the course of a long time.

Yeah, somehow I'm of the mind musicians should be paid for live performances, not records.

you see creativecommons is exactly like the open-source movement, except in music, there are all kinds of licences, from non commercially free to anything in between. Tormod are you releasing any of your music under the creative commons modified GPL License.

Yeah, yeah, I know, "music wants to be free"...
Hey alexander, could you zip up all the code you've ever written and send it to me? I can use any of it for free right?
You're all off-topic: I know there are places to get free music legally, and none of what anyone really wants are there. Someday nirvana will happen, but I'm not holding my breath and what I want to download is *not* under GPL...
Call me names if you want to, but this thread is for old-fogey, luddites. Sorry.
