Question Traveling into Earth's past

Studying geology and the earth is in a way for me to, “time travel“, but of coarse it is limited by what evidence can be pieced together from the fossil record, its sketchy at best in some areas. The question I would like to pose is if you had the opportunity to travel back in time where would you go. What place’s and time’s? What data would you think would be most important to collect ? What would most interest you?

Re: Traveling into Earth's past

if i could go back in time, it would be not a particualar time i would visit but each and every era
from the birth of moon from the earth,
the origination of the first life forms
the evolution of man in all it's stages

The moon and the earth formed at the same time, planetoid collision lunar geology has shown that. I would like for the responses to be more specific, If you had to pick a time and place.
