Magma Turbines:

Magma Turbines are variations of Wind Turbines, but instead of using wind, they use a far, far stronger natural force, magma currents, found deep inside Earth's crust and in chambers beneath volcanoes.

Magma currents would provide many times the force of even ocean currents. Half as many Magma Turbines could provide even more energy than twice as many Ocean Turbines if you make the magnetic resistance of the turbine greater, and thus increase the amount of electricity that is produced when the turbine rotates.

Magma holds great potential in energy.

Some shielding would be needed for the machines that build the turbines inside active lava flows, magnetic fields of some sort.

How would magnetic fields shield anything from magma? magma is extremely weakly interacting with magnetic fields at best. The heat and pressure under ground would preclude any possible harnessing of the movement of magma. The heat of magma could be used to make steam to turn turbines on the surface but that only works where magma is close to the surface.

Perhaps in the future Nano Assembly will allow us to make durable enough machines and turbines for this take.

Gardamorg, I really love your imagination and your ability to see what others may not. The movement of magma does indeed hold a huge amount of energy, but magma is hot, hot enough to melt many if not most metals. The ones the do not melt would soften to the point of not being useful. I honestly do not think you could expect any sort of assembly to get past the heat factor, then there is the pressure, at depth the pressures would destroy any conceivable construct even with out the heat. I think until some unforeseen technology comes to pass, tapping the heat of deep in the earth would be the best course of action. If a way could be found to tap that heat anywhere instead of having to go to a place where the heat comes close to the surface you could indeed solve the worlds energy needs in one step.
