how fast is magma convection?

tolworthy is an unknown quantity at this point
how fast is magma convection?

Since the continents float on top of earth's mantle, can I conclude that the mantle flows at the speed of continental drift? Or is it a fiery churning turmoil down there? Does anyone know?
