I was thinking....You know how there are refferences to the earth stopping which say we would go flying off into space? well if the earth stopped spinning(as a natural thing) wouldnt that mean that just the core stopped? so the earth would still go around the core for days, months, years, maybe even decades, without us noticing.(untill we start having noticibly longer days). we wouldnt die right? atleast when the core stopped spinning. when it stopped moving we would freeze on the dark side of the earth right?

If the earth will stop spinning, it will revolve. So the sun will shine on a place for 6 months. We won't die, but it will be devastating. Climates will be of the sort that winds will blow in one direction all the time, ice will build up over six months, then suddenly dissapear. We'll have to be moving all the time.

Eventually, organisms of different charecters will come to dominate. Perhaps climatic adaptations will begin to appear.

Ogranisms underwater will probably feel the least effects.

Ummm... there are some issues with this, in regards to survivability. For instance Heating, and Cooling, Freezing. Imagine vast ice fields for months, and each "day" the dark side gets a little bit cooler, as the Light side becomes a scorching Desert and the ocean on this side boils from extended exposure to solar radiation. Also if the Dynamo theory of the earth applies, we have to contend without a Magnetic shield to deflect the majority of Cosmic radiation.

Even if the Earth keeps spinning, each of us will die. It's pretty much guarenteed to happen at some point.

Think about it.
The earth is spinning at something like 1600 mph.
If all of a sudden the earth stopped spinning (1600-0 mph in under a second), the G-forces would be so immense that we'd just... die. Not to mention we'd all just fly into everything else at 1600 mph.

No way to survive. Utter destruction. Everything...
