Re: one building 2000 person city design

arcosanti is good but i was mainly thinking a big sprawling building that might be accross several square miles, there was a building when cast iron was first beginning to be a building material that was made out of sections that could be built around nature and enclose it, it could also be moved , this is the one iam talking about The Crystal Palace - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, if i am building a buiding that is a couple square miles in area then i could use this to preserve nature, it would take lights though to immitate sun but still just an idea. i am more interested in the fiction type building cites like atlantis(stargate) was one but not what i am thinking and i would prefer to work towards bringing something from fiction to the world of today so, but good post

i am mainly focusing on cost for this thing.

How about a something a little deferent, although you'll want to downsize it a bit or just build it in sections.
if your building a buiding that is a couple square miles in area then i could use this to preserve nature, once your building is built nature could run free under the main structure.

Shimizu Mega-City Pyramid
The Shimizu TRY 2004 Mega-City Pyramid is a proposed project for construction of a massive pyramid over Tokyo Bay in Japan. The structure would be 12 times higher than the Great Pyramid at Giza, and would house 750,000 people. If built, it will be the largest man-made structure on Earth. The structure would be 2,004 meters (6,575 feet) high and would answer Tokyo's increasing lack of space.

The proposed structure is so large that it cannot be built with currently available materials, due to their weight. The design relies on the future availability of super-strong lightweight materials based on carbon nanotubes.
