| Re: Die Regeln für das Deutsche Forum [quote=NFocusonHIM]So, how long have you been speaking German? And can you tell me how to say the phrase, "I am a believer of Jesus Christ" in german? QUOTE]
Ich werde dass ûbersetzen als "Ich glaube an Jesus Christus". Auf Deutsch kenn mann das Wort "Glaubige" als übersetzung für "believer", aber wenn man sagt "Ich bin ein Glaubige" gibt man nur an dass man eine Religion angehört. Wenn Sie auf English sagen "I'm a believer in Jeus Christ" dann ist dass offenscihtlich viel aktiver. (Just to make sure, I "subtitle" in English.) I would translate it as "Ich glaube an Jesus Christus". In German, you have the translation "Glaubige" for "believer", but it does not mean much more than "member of a religion". If you say "I'm a believer of Jesus Christ" it sounds (to me) much more as a strong positive statement. Hence the translation using the verb, rather than the translation with the noun. And, replying to the first question, I've been speaking German as a foreign language for some 35 years now, though less frequently this last years. And I'm more familliar with formal speech (like you would find in scientific journals) than with the language you'l currently find in forums or chatboxes. And my grammar is not always to be trusted. |
