Hatshepsut's Mummy Identified

Ancient Egypt's most powerful woman, Hatshepsut, has been identified as a mummy discovered in 1903 in the Valley of the Kings. This has to be one of the more important discoveries in Egyptology. On July 15 the Discovery Channel will air a documentary, "Secrets of Egypt's Lost Queen", at 9PM ET.

Yes I saw this on the Discovery Channel I think you're right This has to be one of the more important discoveries in Egyptology, can't wait to see the show in this. was there any treasures in the tomb?

well I guess that would be something of value to someone.
it said that they dug her up 100 years ago, most likely her tomb was robed.

Charlie Rrose had Zahi Hawass and Catharine Roehrig, the curator of the metropolitan museum in NY on together this week to discuss the find & the upcoming special. the mummy was actually in the Cairo Museum in a storage room since the 1920's or so i believe Zahee said. He further elaborated that the tomb it was found in in the 20's was not its original tomb but was moved there by the Egyptians in the course of preparing other tombs in the Valley of the Kings.

Hawass is, to put it mildly, abrasive and uncoperative with any who disagree with him on Egyptology and the camera work during the interview was great as they let Hawass talk while looking for reaction from Catherine. Charlie did a great job avoiding any slip that might set the old curmudgeon off.
