I've been perusing these forums for a couple of months. At some point whilst googling, I came across a link to the Quirky Science Facts forum. So that's where I started.
Now I'm no scientist, but I think a lot of the discussions on here are over my head. Of course that doesn't mean I can't enjoy them. After all, I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Elegant Universe (even though almost every word of that book left my little brain shortly after reading it).
Greetings! You don't have to be a science-whiz to have fun here. But please don't eat our planet!
The Elegant Universe is only fairly accessible to non-scientists: he still sometimes forgets what most people have long forgotten or never knew about math...you might want to try "The Whole Shebang" by Tim Ferris: it doesn't have the string theory stuff in it, but it covers the first half of The Elegant Universe's content in a little bit clearer language.
Have fun!
High iron content,
Buffy
