Smile Welcome, Fresnel lens guy!

Welcome to hypography, Dan. Watched a couple of your youtube videos, and skimmed your website, and am impressed that you’re the kind of backyard scientist that hypography appreciates and needs. I think you’ll find a lot of ideas and discussion to you liking here, and be a welcome contributor of ideas and experience.

Myself, I’m more of the backyard scientist wannabe kind – in small part because I spend too much time writing internets posts about what I’d like to try in my basement/backyard, and too little time actually doing it. Here’s hoping your example will inspire me to mend my thinker-not-doer ways!

I’m a big fan of really big Fresnel lenses, such as the late Robert Forward's Light-Sail Propulsion System – though such stuff is rather out of the reach of the amateur – or, at present, any – scientist.

I look forward to reading more of your posts. Note that after 10, you gain the ability to post links (a restriction necessary to prevent spammers overrunning the site with discount drug adds, etc).
