Red face weatherman's view

Hi all, Im a weather forecaster who found the site while researching megacryometeors, those giant balls of ice that fall from the sky under certain clear sky weather conditions. I have worked for 5 different weather companies in my 14 year career, and now am looking to get into the wind energy field, evaluating proposed wind farm sites. I am one of those people who like to keep learning things, especially about science and how it affects our world. I feel we are in big danger if we allow ourselves to believe that everything is doing OK on planet earth. In reality, we have changed the climate, polluted many areas so badly not much can live there and the rate at which species are going extinct recently is only comparable to the last great die off of species back when the dinosaurs bit the dust. Soon clean drinking water will be the major cause of wars if we don't reverse current trends of over-pumping underground water to irrigate crops; the water levels underground are already up to 50 feet lower in the US plains states from 25 years ago, with similar things occuring in India and other parts of the worls as we.. Did you know that worldwide food production reached its peak about 10 years and has fallen every year since, while the population shows no signs (yet) of slowing it's growth. I still have hope that we can overcome these problems, but it will take getting many, many more people worried about it than those who currently are, before real results can occur.
