Quatrain Corner

[BEAKER]

"Hello in there!", I heard him say
above the hole I dug today.
"Do you need some help, are you O.K.?"
He asked, and then he ran away.

"what's a soul to do I said?"
with narry a morsal nor crumb of bread.
To need a hand, but find instead,
the lack thereof, from him who fled.

So out of the hole I slowly crept
while many cried and others slept
and reached to lift a one who wept
above the hole where pain is kept.

-I just composed that.

is one to keep.

Words are worth their weight in gold
when meaning opens to unfold
the inner depth of truth untold
within the many we are sold.

yes it's great to converse
in short and witty rhyming verse
now's the time I would propose
a battle fought in firey prose

as Shakespeare himself would seem to say
a quatrain's power has it's way
when on stage, last act being done
and puck did 'scape the serpent's tongue

Golden words spoken yessterday
inspired me in my own way
to take and weave my tonge's own silver
and place it here leaving all bewildered

Fell off the wagon dear I fear,
just opened up my 4th beer.
I thinks I must not fiery battle fight,
because I'm just too drunk tonight.

A battle in fiery prose? Who knows the woes this could dispose!?!
To come to eloquent blows with those crows that shadows froze.
The power of prose that grows and flows has risen and rose!
I feel it from my head to my toes!

-But I just can't stop the rhymes sometimes.

No amount of little writing,
quells the urge to go on fighting,
but offer up some food to eat,
to see combatants take their seat.

Food is good, desert is greater
I'd rather eat mine now than later.
