Be a Lamp

You must be your own lamps,
Be your own refuges.
Take refuge in nothing outside yourselves.
Hold firm to the Dharma as a lamp and a refuge.
Do not look for refuge to anything besides yourselves.
— From the Nirvana Sutra

or to de Budify it

You must be your own lamps,
Be your own refuges.
Take refuge in nothing outside yourselves.
Do not look for refuge to anything besides yourselves.

I have observed that the world has suffered far less from ignorance than from pretensions to knowledge. It is not skeptics or explorers, but fanatics and ideologues who menace decency and progress. No agnostic ever burned anyone at the stake or tortured a pagan, a heretic, or an unbeliever. ~ Daniel Boorstin

Funny I just found this quote after giving a $1 to the Royal Flying Doctor (I really can't even afford that!!)

What has been is what will be,
and what has been done is what will be done;
there is nothing new under the sun.
Is there a thing of which it is said,
“See, this is new”?
It has already been,
in the ages before us.
The people of long ago are not remembered,
nor will there be any remembrance
of people yet to come
by those who come after them.

Ecclesiastes 1 : 2–11.

To me those sentences say differnt things.
The first an addictive drug that takes you from reality, numbs you to any external stimuli.which is i think what marks meant. It stops you from thinking.

The second means it works, better than anything else we have even if based on a sugar pill story.
House scriptwriters being too clever by far?
